ReDress’ Favorite Things…Spring ’15

It’s that time of year, where all we can think about is what we’ll be wearing all spring and summer long!  We’ve rounded up our favorite things – what we hope will be in constant rotation for the next few months.

When we’re looking to add to our wardrobes, it’s helpful for us to have a plan as to what we want to buy.  So first we’ll start with our closets and ask ourselves the following questions:

1.  What is missing?  Are there any trends that we love that we don’t have yet?

2.  What needs updated?  Any classics that have become worn and could use replacing?

3.  What did we love wearing last year?  Anything we wish we had more of?

Then we’ll shop around in person and online to see if we can find items to fill in the categories we’ve come up with.  But before we buy, we make sure that:

1.  It is versatile (easily dressed up or down!)

2.  It goes with more than one thing in our closet – no impulse buys here, we want to wear our clothes!

3.  We love it!

We go through all of these questions *and more* with you during our Closet Clean-Up…so if you need some help (or a new opinion/eye looking for you!), let us know and we’ll get you on our schedule!

SO…here is what we have found that we love and will wear the most this spring and summer!

Cara’s Favorite Things:

I’m going for classic comfort with some femininity this spring and summer.  Pieces that are light and airy – pastels, lace, crochet, lots of white…and anything that is versatile and effortless.  I’ll play up my accessories and incorporate trends like tassels, fringe, and pom poms in statement pieces.  I’m envisioning long summer days, and these pieces will easily take me from the pool to drinks on the patio!

Angela’s Favorite Things:

I’m loving the boho-chic vibe of all of the 70’s inspired pieces with swingy silhouettes, large floral prints, and fringe details mixed with a little metallic glam. Distressed denim is a go-to mixed with super feminine flowy tops. Can’t forget a great outerwear piece for rainy spring days!

Dressing For the Weather: Winter Chic

Welcome to 2015…and to winter weather!

We often get questions about coats and how to dress for the weather without sacrificing style.  We visited cold weather outfits last year (and rainy day outfits), so we thought we’d visit it again this winter!

We feel that there are so many interesting and beautiful coats out there, so why play it safe with a basic black peacoat?  If your coat is covering up your outfit, do NOT feel that you need to match your coat with what you’re wearing that day.  Try an interesting fabric (shiny puffer coats, wool, fur), shapes (long, short, and capes!), or color (neutrals such as grey, navy or brown, or colors – even pastels!).  And to go with your coat there are endless accessories.  Fur hats and headbands, beautiful scarves, and warm weather boots with shearling and fur details.  And don’t forget earrings or watches or bracelets…all things that can still be seen when you’re bundled up!

Here are some winter chic looks to inspire  you as you bundle up for the cold weather!

Vests

With August quickly approaching (tomorrow?!  Already?!) and the September-like temperatures this week, we have had fall on our mind. Although we’re not quite ready for summer to be over and to discuss fall trends, these unseasonably cool days have us reaching for layering pieces and thinking of new outfits that can easily go from chilly mornings to sunny afternoons and every temperature in between.   Sometimes for an extra layer of warmth, a vest is just what you need.  And fortunately there are all kinds of vests out there right now!  In addition to looking chic and adding interest to your outfit, they are super versatile and seasonless.  And they are a great piece to take your summer clothes into fall!  Here are some ways to wear vests as we transition into fall.
