ReDress’ Favorite Things…Spring ’15

It’s that time of year, where all we can think about is what we’ll be wearing all spring and summer long!  We’ve rounded up our favorite things – what we hope will be in constant rotation for the next few months.

When we’re looking to add to our wardrobes, it’s helpful for us to have a plan as to what we want to buy.  So first we’ll start with our closets and ask ourselves the following questions:

1.  What is missing?  Are there any trends that we love that we don’t have yet?

2.  What needs updated?  Any classics that have become worn and could use replacing?

3.  What did we love wearing last year?  Anything we wish we had more of?

Then we’ll shop around in person and online to see if we can find items to fill in the categories we’ve come up with.  But before we buy, we make sure that:

1.  It is versatile (easily dressed up or down!)

2.  It goes with more than one thing in our closet – no impulse buys here, we want to wear our clothes!

3.  We love it!

We go through all of these questions *and more* with you during our Closet Clean-Up…so if you need some help (or a new opinion/eye looking for you!), let us know and we’ll get you on our schedule!

SO…here is what we have found that we love and will wear the most this spring and summer!

Cara’s Favorite Things:

I’m going for classic comfort with some femininity this spring and summer.  Pieces that are light and airy – pastels, lace, crochet, lots of white…and anything that is versatile and effortless.  I’ll play up my accessories and incorporate trends like tassels, fringe, and pom poms in statement pieces.  I’m envisioning long summer days, and these pieces will easily take me from the pool to drinks on the patio!

Angela’s Favorite Things:

I’m loving the boho-chic vibe of all of the 70’s inspired pieces with swingy silhouettes, large floral prints, and fringe details mixed with a little metallic glam. Distressed denim is a go-to mixed with super feminine flowy tops. Can’t forget a great outerwear piece for rainy spring days!

ReDress’ Beach Vacation Packing Guide

Hi everyone!!

We are back and ready to talk about fashion! We hope everyone has had a great summer so far.

Since Cara just got back from a trip to Mexico and Angela is heading to the beach in a few weeks, we have vacation packing on our minds. Apparently this is the time of year for vacations: as we looked back on our blog, almost exactly one year ago, we wrote a post on packing for a beach vacation! Visit that post here for our easy tips and tricks when it comes to packing.

So today we’re giving some examples on what you can buy now to take with you on your trip. You know we’re all about versatility, and these items will give you the biggest bang for your buck: they are classic pieces that can be dressed up or down by changing out your accessories (and don’t forget your accessories when you pack for vacation! They take up little space and will maximize your wardrobe and add a finishing touch on to each outfit!). Here is what to look for:

Beach Basics: Bathing suit, sunhat, sunglasses.

Tote Bag: Take on the plane and to the beach.

Clutch: Store your essentials (wallet, phone, lipstick) in your clutch and keep it in your tote bag. When you head away from your towel or are going out for the night, just grab your clutch and you’re ready to go.

Maxi Dress: Dress up or down! Use it as a swim cover up or throw on a statement necklace and heels at night.

Easy Tanks and Shorts: These are key for a beach trip as they are comfortable, lightweight, and can be dressed up or down by swapping out accessories.

Denim Jacket: For those chilly airplane rides and air conditioned restaurants.

Scarf: Look for a big colorful one that can double as a beach cover up or a wrap if it cools off at night.

Shoes: Metallic sandals and a neutral pair of heels will go with everything!

Jewelry: Statement necklaces! Big earrings! Easy ways to change up your outfit without taking up a lot of space in your suitcase.

Spring Trend: Prints and Pattern

We are so excited to refresh our wardrobes this Spring with some PRINTS AND PATTERN!  After hibernating in greys, blacks, and neutrals this winter, the emergence of prints and patterns across clothing and accessories this season is a welcome change.   We’ve noticed 3 major categories of prints and pattern: Romantic Florals, Bold Graphics, and Classic Black and White.  Here are some examples to inspire you as you shop for warm weather clothes.
